7:4. പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെല്ലുക എന്നുവന്നാൽ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ക്ഷാമമായിക്കകൊണ്ടു നാം അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; ഇവിടെ പാർത്താലും മരിക്കും. അതുകൊണ്ടു വരിക നമുക്കു അരാമ്യപാളയത്തിൽ പോകാം; അവർ നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചാൽ നാം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും; അവർ നമ്മെ കൊന്നാൽ നാം മരിക്കയേയുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7:4. If we go into the city, we'll die of starvation, and if we stay here we'll die! So come on, let's defect to the Syrian camp! If they spare us, we'll live; if they kill us— well, we were going to die anyway."

7:4. "We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway."
